JPEG Plugin
Generally we do not endorse the JPEG image format for image analysis because a lot of important image information is lost during the JPEG image conversion and reduction process. On the other hand, because of the Internet, the huge amount of compression possible with the JPEG format and multiple customers requests, we decided to support JPEG compression as a plugin. Since a plugin requires you to make one extra conscious step, we hope use this format will be for something other than image analysis.
To create a JPEG image load or capture an image, then click on Plugins from the main menubar, then click Export to JPEG. If the image can be saved as a JPEG file, the image save dialog box will appear.
The following menu may appear if the Prompt for Options on Export was checked on from the last time in use.

The quality of JPEG image to be exported can be adjusted by moving the Quality slider. The quality can be adjusted between 1 and 100 (1 being the most compression and 100 being the least compression) and we have found 75 to give the most desirable results or best trade off. The Stack Options allow one to save the Current Layer of Stack (current layer of a movie) or Save Sequentially numbered, thus saving each image in a movie (multi-layered tiff, stack or AVI file) as individual JPEG images. The prefix name already chosen will be used, and the number of decimals behind each image in the sequential save can be adjusted using the Decimals in Sequence spinner control.
Note: This plugin only supports 8 or 24 bit images, it does not support 16, 32 and 48 bit or floating point images. Use convert under process in Northern Eclipse if image conversion is necessary.
