Movie Control

The Movie Controller can be used for the following: creation of a multi-layered tiff files, movies that can be converted to AVI files with the AVI plugin, animation of time-lapse sequences, animation of Z-axis acquisitions, animation of a 3D reconstruction, animation of a short movie clip. The Movie Control user interface is setup like a VCR. The “First” button has the movie go to the first image in the stack, the “Previous” button has the movie go to the previous image in the stack, the “Play” button starts a looping animation of the current movie, the”Next” button has the movie go to the next image in the stack and the “Last” button has the movie go the last image in the stack. The “Add” button is used to add layers to the current multi-layered tiff image (or stack) or it can be use to create new stacks by adding single image planes together with the result being a multi-layered tiff image.

The “Add” button launches the Add Layer(s) to Movie menu allowing the addition of individual images or the selection of all open images in Northern Eclipse to the current image (current multi-layered tiff file). The “Delete” button of the Movie Controller will delete the current layer, and the “Extract” button will pull the current layer from the Movie Controller stack of images and it will then be present in Northern Eclipse as an individual image. The “3D” button launches the 3D Reconstruction menu (see 3D Reconstruction). The XY Max button will create an individual maximum projection image (ideal for creating one in focus Fluorescent image from a Z-series) from all of the images in the Movie Controller, and the XY Min button will create and individual minimum projection image (ideal for creating one in focus Brightfield image from a Z-series) .The horizontal slider bar allows panning through the multi-layered tiff image, and the vertical slider bar sets the movies animation speed.

Hint: With Windows 98, Me, NT and 2000, to open multiple images in the correct order, using the “Open Image” function of Northern Eclipse, highlight the last image first by clicking on it with the mouse, then while holding down the shift key highlight the first image last by clicking on it with the mouse and then click “Open”.
