This function takes the current selection(s) and creates a new image. If the selection is a simple rectangle, it creates an image of that size and copies the selection into the new image. If the selection is more complicated, or is made up of many selections, the smallest bounding box around the union of the selections is calculated and an image of that size is created. Only the pixels that lie within the selection are copied. The unselected pixels are replaced with a black background. This function is useful if you want to manually remove objects from their background.
